Mission Statement

Booth University College is a Christian university college rooted in The Salvation Army’s Wesleyan theological tradition. It brings together Christian faith, rigorous scholarship and a passion for service. The University College educates students to understand the complexities of our world, to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be active contributors to society and to know how Christian faith compels them to bring hope, social justice and mercy into our world.

Missional Anchor Points

There are 6 Missional Anchor Points, which keep us grounded in our identity and calling.

Booth University College is committed to:

  1. Being a Christ-centred, educational community devoted to holistic student, staff, and faculty support, the identity and Mission of The Salvation Army, the city of Winnipeg, and beyond.
  2. Producing graduates who embody faith, think deeply and creatively, are global citizens, and work toward justice, reconciliation, restoration, and equity in our world.
  3. Attracting, developing, and investing in faculty and staff who are people-focused, Mission-centred, agents of hope and change, and committed to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  4. Designing, cultivating, and integrating academic courses and programs that align with our identity and Mission, have clear articulation pathways, and are constantly striving toward relevancy, innovation, and excellence.
  5. Building strong relationships with like-Missioned organizations that help each other better fulfil their missions.
  6. Improving and maintaining organizational effectiveness across all areas (governance, academics, finances, operations, and asset management), while still putting people, identity, and Mission first.

Institutional Goals

There are 4 Institutional Goals, which provide understanding and direction for embodying our aim of “Education for a Better World.”

Education for a Better Booth UC

Booth UC is dedicated to continuous improvement, aiming to surpass the base requirements of higher education and strive for excellence in the areas of student support, teaching, scholarship, and governance. This entails establishing elevated standards of quality assurance and accountability while expanding in our strengths. By adhering to these measurements for institutional success, we anticipate positioning ourselves favorably for attaining full university status.

Education for a Better TSA

Booth UC owes its existence to The Salvation Army, which remains a crucial advocate of our mission. Reciprocally, Booth UC is rededicating itself to supporting The Salvation Army in accomplishing its mission of “sharing the love of Jesus Christ, meeting human needs, and being a transforming influence in the communities of our world.” Our commitment involves fostering increased collaboration, providing targeted training and ongoing educational pathways, and actively creating and preserving educational and historical resources. We aspire to mutually enhance our efforts and experience collective growth.

Education for a Better Winnipeg

Booth UC is deeply rooted in and committed to the vibrant community and rich history of Winnipeg, Manitoba. We are called to contribute to the city's healing, actively participating in the reconciliation process. Our commitment extends to fostering the city's growth by providing high-quality post-secondary education in collaboration with local institutions. We further aim to contribute to Winnipeg's enhancement through project-based, experiential learning, which showcases the city's distinctiveness and further develops stronger, more just communities.

Education for a Better Canada and Beyond

Booth UC is expanding our influence by broadening our reach. Leveraging enhanced technology, diverse teaching methods and modalities, and a flexible hybrid student support model, we envision reaching new horizons and launching creative partnerships. Our commitment extends to fostering a more diverse community of learners, promoting the exchange of ideas and resources, and embracing innovative perspectives on the landscape of higher education globally.
