Hello Everyone!

It’s me Josh here, and today I wanted to talk just a bit about what is going on here at Booth. This week, Booth is celebrating heritage week, a time when we look back to see where we have come from. Throughout this week we have different activities taking place throughout the school, from speakers talking about the history of Booth University College, to free cake and coffee for staff and students. In theme with the idea of looking at our past, I thought I would take some time to look at my university journey to see where I have come from.

My first year of university took place in the 2014-2015 school year. I came to study at Booth in September of 2014, fresh out of high school, and not only was I going to be attending university for the first time, but I was moving out of the home and into dorm. That first year was an amazing journey of growth, development and change. I met a group of really great people who I became close friends with, and because of them I learned more about myself and who I want me to be.

While there was more homework to do than I was used to in high school, I found university to be easier for me in that first year than I had found high school. I think that part of that was because I could take my education at my own pace, without having teachers dictate my studying schedule. I also enjoyed my studying a lot more because I felt like I was learning things that I actually wanted to learn, and had professors who wanted to help me learn it. My professors were also a wonderful part of my first year, within one semester I would know my professors better than I knew a high school teacher after studying with them for three years.

As my first year ended, I said goodbye to some of the people I had met, and headed home for the summer. When I got back in the following year I got the chance to meet another new batch of incredibly wonderful people, and to experience another year that, while slightly more strenuous, was still an excellent year. It was also in my second year that I had the chance to start working as a Student Ambassador here at Booth, and this job has been a learning and growing experience for me. On a slightly more personal note, my second year gave me the chance to meet a wonderful young woman, who I seem to have fallen for, and we have now been dating for almost a year.

Finally I have returned for my third year of study here at Booth. This year has been more challenging than previous years, and my course load has grown more difficult. However, I still get the chance to spend time hanging out with my friends on top of my school work. I have truly enjoyed and cherished my years of study here at Booth, and while a part of me would like things to keep going the same way they have gone in my first two years, I am looking forward to the future, waiting to see what is in store for me!

Studying at Booth has been one of the most positive and learning experiences of my life, and while I have not enjoyed every minute of it (exams and papers, obviously), I have had a great time here, and am looking forward to my final year here. Anyway, that’s enough from me, I am looking forward to seeing you all around the school!
