Sessional Instructor

Markus graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work from Booth University College and relocated to Saskatchewan, where he completed a Master of Social Work at the University of Regina.

Markus has worked with individuals across the lifespan in diverse areas ranging from child welfare and income assistance to health care and mental health. He has a particular passion for children, youth, and their families. This has included volunteering at local youth groups and events, assisting with a community plan aimed at ending youth homelessness in Winnipeg, conducting child abuse/neglect investigations, and offering ongoing support with child protection services. Markus is currently employed as a clinical social worker within child and youth mental health and addiction services.

Markus enjoys seeing students and new social workers learn, grow, and find success in the field. He has volunteered his time to mentor BSW graduates, guided practicum students in his workplaces, and held multiple teaching assistantships during his own studies. He is also an active member on the executive of the Saskatoon branch of the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW).

Markus loves spending time with his wife, two daughters, and their dog. He plays guitar, has an interest in all types of music, and appreciates how music can bring people together.
