Don is currently the Controller/Director of Corporate Finance and Shared Services for World Vision Canada, where he is responsible for Corporate Finance, Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, Customer Operations, the Banking Centre, Fulfillment, Warehouse, and Facilities. A major focus of his job is to identify areas where there are redundant and manual processes and to find a means to streamline and automate these processes. He has been instrumental in implementing automation in all areas, resulting in significant cost savings, but more importantly, providing quality and timely information that allows business unit mangers to make informed decisions about their operations.

In past positions, Don was a practicing CPA/CA, controller for two family owned businesses, and Director of Internal Audit for The Salvation Army in Canada for 10 years, where he travelled extensively across Canada and gained significant insight into the operations and workings of ministry units of all sizes. Don has a passion to come alongside individuals to help them understand their operations better and to help them find ways to improve their processes. He is a strong people leader who believes in creating unity and trust throughout his team, allowing them to dream, explore, and try new things.

Don is a lifelong Salvationist and has held numerous positions within corps life. He believes that the local corps is instrumental in the community in spreading the word of Christ. Don is married to Major Lori Mitchell and has six children: Geoff, Melissa, Chris, Andrew, Tim, and Ryan.

In his spare time, Don loves camping, boating, horseback riding, walking, and spending time with friends and family.
